We are told every Memorial Day to remember those that gave their lives for your freedom. This is so pervasive in our society that it is hardly ever questioned. We are sold on flags, apple pie and yellow ribbons. We cheer and even get a little misty eyed thinking about those brave soldiers that gave their all for us. After all nothing could be more honorable than sacrificing yourself for others.
