Russia submits new draft on Syria

Russia has strongly opposed sanctions or forcing regime change in Syria, which the new European draft implies, according to Churkin. The Russian ambassador believes western discussion of ‘who is legitimate and who is not’ will only encourage violence in the Middle Eastern country.
The Russian version of the draft also contains a call for Syrian authorities to release “all political prisoners and detained peaceful demonstrators.”
Churkin went on to condemn the resolution proposed earlier by a group of Western countries, including the UK, France, Portugal and Germany, and backed by the US, as another step aimed at changing the regime in the country:

Western anger over thwarted Syria plans

If Syria falls to what is obviously another "color" revolution the much anticipated war with Iran will be on!

Western countries have sharply criticized Russia and China for vetoing a UN Security Council resolution against Syria’s ruling regime. They promised to impose more sanctions against Syria, declaring the veto will not stop them.
­Britain’s Foreign Secretary William Hague has called Russia’s and China’s decision to veto “deeply mistaken and regrettable.” Speaking to the Conservative party conference in Manchester, he assured that they will “redouble” their “efforts to work with other nations to increase the pressure on the regime “wherever they can.”
